Car Accidents in Texas
Texas roads see thousands of car crashes each year, with many involving hit-and-run drivers. In 2023, over 90,000 hit-and-run accidents were reported statewide, according to the Texas Department of Transportation. These types of collisions often leave victims without immediate answers or accountability, adding additional stress to an already traumatic situation.
Injured drivers and passengers often face more than just physical pain. Here are a few ways these events impact people involved in crashes:
- Emotional Aftermath: Victims frequently experience anxiety, fear, or anger following a hit-and-run. The absence of closure can prolong emotional recovery and may lead to long-term psychological challenges.
- Insurance Challenges: Getting compensation becomes much more complicated when the at-fault driver cannot be located. Victims may need to rely on their uninsured motorist coverage, which not all drivers carry.
- Delayed Medical Treatment: Some injuries, like soft tissue damage or head trauma, may not present immediate symptoms. When victims delay seeking care, recovery can take longer and may lead to additional health complications.
- Financial Burden: With car repairs, medical bills, and missed work, expenses add up quickly. For those not at fault, it can feel unfair to carry that weight without resolution.
- Legal Roadblocks: When a driver flees the scene, proving fault and recovering compensation becomes more complex. Timely legal action can help preserve evidence and improve the chances of a successful outcome.
If you were hurt in a hit-and-run, it’s critical to speak with a Tyler car accident attorney as soon as possible. The earlier an attorney becomes involved, the more effectively they can help recover key evidence and work with insurance companies on your behalf. These moments are overwhelming, and having a steady hand on your side can help you move forward.
