Marion County, TX (August 3, 2025) – A recreational outing on Lake O’ the Pines ended in tragedy Saturday afternoon when a high-speed jet boat crash took the life of a 62-year-old man from Louisiana. Officials with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department said the crash occurred around 3:40 p.m. on August 2, during a boat racing event on the lake. According to reports, multiple boats were racing across the water when one vessel suddenly lost control and crashed.
The operator of the boat, identified as Michael E. Roland of Bossier City, was pronounced deceased at the scene. At this time, no other injuries have been reported, and authorities have not confirmed whether additional vessels were directly involved.
