Truck Accidents in Texas
Texas highways see a large number of commercial vehicle accidents each year, with thousands involving 18-wheelers. In 2023 alone, the state recorded over 38,000 crashes involving commercial motor vehicles. These types of collisions are often more severe due to the sheer size and weight of the trucks involved. Many of these incidents occur in rural areas or on narrow highways like those found throughout East Texas.
In today’s case, we’re taking a closer look at some of the most common injuries victims suffer after truck crashes:
- Back and Neck Injuries: These are among the most frequently reported injuries in large truck crashes. The force of impact often causes herniated discs, muscle strain, or even spinal cord trauma. Some victims experience chronic pain and require long-term therapy or surgery.
- Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI) :TBIs can range from concussions to life-altering brain damage. These injuries may not be obvious at first, but symptoms can worsen over time. Prompt medical evaluation is essential.
- Internal Injuries: Damage to organs such as the liver, spleen, or lungs can occur even without visible external trauma. These injuries are serious and may be fatal if not treated quickly.
- Fractures and Broken Bones: Truck collisions frequently result in broken arms, legs, ribs, or pelvises. Recovery often involves surgeries and lengthy rehabilitation periods, which may impact a person’s ability to work.
- Psychological Trauma: Accidents don’t only leave physical scars. Many survivors of serious truck crashes suffer from anxiety, depression, or post-traumatic stress disorder, which may require ongoing counseling or support.
