Motorcycle Accidents in Texas

Whitehouse, TX - Motorcyclist Killed in Crash on SH 110 at Acker TapMotorcycle accidents in Texas often carry a higher risk of serious injury or death due to limited protection for riders. In 2023 alone, over 560 motorcyclists were killed in Texas, and thousands more were seriously hurt. Despite awareness efforts, these incidents remain common on both highways and local roads. Many victims face long recoveries and mounting medical bills.

Let’s take a closer look at some common injuries motorcyclists experience when involved in these types of accidents:

  • Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI): Even with helmets, riders may suffer from TBIs that can affect memory, coordination, and speech. Recovery can take months or years, and in severe cases, may leave permanent disability.
  • Road Rash and Severe Lacerations: When riders are thrown from their bikes, they often skid along the pavement. This leads to painful abrasions and deep tissue damage that may require skin grafts or lead to infections.
  • Fractures and Broken Bones: Limbs are especially vulnerable in motorcycle crashes. Broken arms, legs, and ribs are common and often require surgery and extended rehabilitation.
  • Spinal Cord Injuries: High-impact collisions can damage the spine, potentially resulting in partial or full paralysis. These injuries drastically change a person’s lifestyle and require lifelong care.
  • Internal Injuries: The force from a crash can cause internal bleeding or damage to organs. These are particularly dangerous because symptoms may not show immediately but can quickly become life-threatening.
  • Psychological Trauma: Surviving a crash can leave deep emotional scars. PTSD, anxiety, and depression are common, and many riders need counseling to process the trauma.
