Smith County, TX (July 26, 2025) – A serious rollover crash on Interstate 20 left two individuals hospitalized after their vehicle flipped multiple times on Friday morning.
The incident occurred on July 25 in the westbound lanes near mile marker 549, according to Larry Christian with the Smith County Sheriff’s Office. The vehicle was heading westbound when it became involved in a collision. This caused the vehicle to roll over several times before coming to a stop. When emergency crews arrived, including deputies from the Sheriff’s Office and firefighters from Lindale, they found one occupant unconscious and the driver alert. Both individuals were treated on scene before being transported to nearby medical facilities for additional care.
Traffic was slowed in the area while first responders worked to assess injuries, investigate the wreck, and clear debris from the road. The lanes have since reopened. Authorities from the Texas Department of Public Safety are handling the investigation.
We hope those injured in this accident recover quickly.
Car Accidents in Texas
Every year, thousands of crashes occur across Texas, with many leading to significant injuries. The Texas Department of Transportation reports that over 244,000 people were hurt in car accidents in 2023. From major highways to local roads, these incidents can disrupt lives in an instant. When crashes happen, victims and their families are often left picking up the pieces.
One major issue in accidents like this involves the types of injuries sustained. Here are a few that often result from rollover crashes:
- Head and Brain Injuries: Rollovers often cause sudden, jarring impacts. This can lead to concussions or more severe traumatic brain injuries, which may take weeks or months to fully assess and treat.
- Spinal Cord Damage: The impact and twisting motion of a rollover can seriously damage the spine, potentially resulting in paralysis or long-term mobility issues.
- Broken Bones and Lacerations: High-force crashes often result in broken limbs and deep cuts from debris or shattered windows, requiring surgery or long recovery periods.
- Internal Injuries: Rollover crashes can cause internal bleeding or organ damage that may not be immediately visible but can be life-threatening if untreated.
- Emotional Trauma: It’s not uncommon for survivors to struggle with post-crash anxiety, depression, or PTSD following a violent wreck.
