Car Accidents in Texas
Crashes are, unfortunately, common across Texas. In 2023, thousands of people were injured in vehicle accidents, many of which occurred in rural counties like Titus. Intersections on farm-to-market roads are especially prone to crashes due to higher speeds and limited visibility.
Understanding how a crash can affect your day-to-day life is important. Here are a few issues many people experience in the aftermath:
- Lost wages after the crash: Many victims need time off work to recover physically or attend medical appointments. Without income, financial stress often builds, especially for those without paid leave or disability benefits.
- Difficulty accessing proper care: Rural areas sometimes have limited access to specialists or trauma centers. Victims may need to travel further for appointments, adding time and expense to their recovery.
- Unclear liability at intersections: When crashes occur at stop signs or two-lane highways, determining fault can be complicated. An officer’s report may not always reflect the full picture, which can impact insurance claims.
- Insurance company pushback: After an injury, insurers often attempt to downplay damages or offer settlements that don’t account for long-term medical needs. Victims may be pressured to settle quickly, without fully understanding their rights.
- Emotional toll of the event: Beyond physical injuries, car crashes can cause anxiety, trouble sleeping, or even PTSD. These mental health impacts are just as real and often go untreated without legal or medical guidance.
