Marshall, TX (March 28, 2025) – A car crash early Thursday morning took the lives of two men in Harrison County, leaving behind grief for their families and loved ones. The deadly collision occurred around 5:00 a.m. on March 27 at the intersection of State Highway 43 and Fyffe Cutoff, just south of I-20 near Marshall.
According to Sgt. Adam Albritton with the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash happened when 44-year-old Andrew Allison of Carthage, driving a GMC Yukon westbound on Fyffe Cutoff, allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign. As he pulled into the intersection, his vehicle was struck by a Chevrolet Silverado heading south on SH 43, driven by 69-year-old Terry Ledbetter of Marshall. The impact was severe, and both men were pronounced dead at the scene. Neither vehicle was carrying passengers, and no other injuries were reported. The collision is under investigation, though authorities have indicated the failure to stop at the posted sign played a central role.
We extend our sincere condolences to the families and friends of Andrew Allison and Terry Ledbetter.
Fatal Accidents in Texas
Deadly collisions are sadly not uncommon on Texas roads. The Texas Department of Transportation reports that in the past year, there was not a single day without a traffic fatality somewhere in the state. These crashes often leave families shattered and searching for answers in the aftermath of sudden loss.
Understanding what families go through during this time, here are a few important things to keep in mind:
-
Wrongful Death Claims Provide Legal Recourse: When someone dies in a crash caused by negligence, surviving family members may be able to file a wrongful death claim. This allows them to seek compensation for medical costs, funeral expenses, and the emotional toll of losing a loved one.
-
Crash Investigations Are Critical: Details like stop sign violations, speed, visibility, and road conditions all play a role in determining fault. A full investigation helps establish who was responsible and can be key evidence in a civil claim.
-
Emotional Trauma Runs Deep: The sudden loss of a family member in a car crash brings more than financial hardship. The emotional trauma can last for years, and many families benefit from counseling and other support during the grieving process.
-
Insurance Isn’t Always Enough: Insurance may cover some damages, but policies often fall short of addressing the full scope of a family’s loss. That’s where legal action can help ensure families receive the compensation they need to move forward.
If your loved one was killed in a traffic crash like this, it’s vital to contact a personal injury attorney as soon as possible. Time is critical—evidence can be lost, and deadlines to file claims come quickly. A knowledgeable attorney can help preserve your rights and guide you through each step during this painful period. The sooner you act, the stronger your case may be.
