Cherokee Co., TX (March 27, 2025) – A rollover accident on Farm to Market Road 2137, just south of Farm to Market Road 344 in Cherokee County, disrupted the area on March 27 and left at least one person injured. Authorities responded to the scene shortly after the incident was reported and found a vehicle overturned along the roadway.
Emergency crews worked quickly to assist the injured and secure the crash site. At least one victim was transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment. The severity of the injuries has not been disclosed, but the vehicle’s condition suggests a high-impact incident. Investigators remained on the scene for an extended period to piece together how the rollover happened.
Rollover accidents can be particularly dangerous due to the risk of ejection, roof crush injuries, and multiple points of impact. Local officials have not yet said whether weather, speed, or another vehicle contributed to the wreck. FM 2137 remained partially blocked while responders worked to clear the debris and restore traffic flow.
We hope those injured in this accident recover quickly.
Car Accidents in Texas
Rollover crashes are among the most violent and traumatic accidents seen on Texas roads. They often result in serious injuries or death, especially when occupants are not restrained. According to state data, thousands of rollover wrecks occur every year, many of them on rural roads where higher speeds and sharp curves make these incidents more likely.
Because of how dangerous they can be, it’s important to understand the common causes behind rollover crashes:
- Speeding Around Curves: Many rollovers occur when a vehicle takes a curve too fast, especially on rural or two-lane roads. SUVs and trucks are more top-heavy, making them especially prone to tipping when turning at high speeds.
- Overcorrection: If a driver veers off the road and sharply jerks the steering wheel to get back on track, it can cause the vehicle to lose balance and flip. These reactions often happen in split seconds and can be difficult to avoid once in motion.
- Tire Blowouts or Edge Drop-Offs: A sudden tire blowout can destabilize a vehicle, especially at higher speeds. Similarly, driving off the edge of the pavement onto a shoulder that’s several inches lower can set the stage for a rollover when the driver overcorrects.
- Collisions With Other Vehicles: Side-impact crashes or being forced off the road can lead to rollovers, particularly if a vehicle hits a ditch, embankment, or object like a guardrail that causes it to flip.
