Car Accidents in Texas
Texas sees thousands of vehicle collisions each year, many of which result in injuries or fatalities. According to the Texas Department of Transportation, congested roadways and driver errors contribute to a significant portion of these crashes. Areas near major highways, like I-35E, often experience high traffic volumes, increasing the likelihood of accidents.
Understanding some of the common risks on Texas roads can help drivers stay safe:
- Traffic Congestion – Heavily traveled highways and intersections see more frequent accidents due to stop-and-go traffic, sudden lane changes, and distracted driving.
- Speeding – Exceeding the posted speed limit makes it harder for drivers to stop in time to avoid crashes. Speed-related accidents often lead to severe injuries.
- Failure to Obey Traffic Signals – Running red lights or stop signs at intersections increases the risk of T-bone or side-impact crashes, which can be especially dangerous.
- Drowsy Driving – Fatigue can impair a driver’s reaction time and decision-making abilities, leading to preventable accidents. Long-distance drivers are particularly at risk.
