Car Accidents in Texas
Texas roads see thousands of motor vehicle crashes each year, many of which result in injuries. The Texas Department of Transportation reports that urban areas experience a high volume of collisions due to congestion, distracted driving, and other hazards. With millions of drivers on the road daily, accidents are an unfortunate reality.
To stay safe on Texas roadways, it’s important to recognize some of the leading causes of crashes:
- Reckless Driving – Speeding, aggressive lane changes, and tailgating are reckless behaviors that increase the risk of crashes. Drivers should remain patient and follow traffic laws to prevent dangerous situations.
- Distracted Driving – Texting, eating, and using in-car entertainment systems take attention away from the road. Even a brief lapse in focus can lead to a serious accident.
- Intersection Collisions – Many accidents occur when drivers fail to yield, ignore stop signs, or run red lights. These crashes often result in severe injuries due to high-impact side collisions.
- Poor Road Conditions – Potholes, construction zones, and worn-out road markings can create hazards for drivers. Staying alert and adjusting speed in these areas can help prevent accidents.
