Hardin Co., TX (February 10, 2025) – A tragic accident on Highway 326 near Hardin-Jefferson High School claimed the life of a driver on Thursday afternoon.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), the crash happened around 12:25 p.m. when a Mack concrete truck, traveling northbound, began to fishtail after allegedly colliding with another vehicle. The truck overturned, blocking the center of the roadway. Emergency crews quickly responded to the scene and transported the driver to HCA Kingwood. Sadly, the driver succumbed to their injuries.

Authorities have not yet released the identity of the victim, as they are notifying the family. The accident led to temporary road closures on Highway 326, affecting areas near Hardin-Jefferson High School, the Junior High, and Gates at Sour Lake apartments. However, school district officials confirmed that no school staff or students were involved, and operations at the school were not impacted. Drivers in the area were urged to use Grayburg Road as an alternate route while crews worked to clear the wreckage. DPS is continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.

We extend our deepest condolences to the family of the driver lost in this accident. We also hope all the wounded individuals recover swiftly.

Truck Accidents in Texas

Hardin Co., TX – Driver Killed in Concrete Truck Rollover on Highway 326Texas sees a high number of truck accidents each year due to its extensive highway system and heavy commercial vehicle traffic. In recent years, thousands of truck crashes have occurred across the state, many resulting in serious injuries or fatalities. These accidents can be especially dangerous due to the size and weight of commercial trucks, making rollovers and jackknife incidents particularly hazardous.

Understanding the risks of truck accidents is important for all Texas drivers. Here are some common causes of these incidents:

  • Brake or Tire Failures – Mechanical issues, such as faulty brakes or worn-out tires, can cause drivers to lose control, increasing the risk of a rollover or collision.
  • Shifting Loads – Improperly secured cargo can shift suddenly, throwing off a truck’s balance and leading to crashes, particularly in curves or sudden stops.
  • Driver Fatigue – Long hours on the road can lead to exhaustion, slowing reaction times and increasing the risk of mistakes. Despite federal regulations limiting drive time, fatigue remains a major factor in truck accidents.
  • Poor Road Conditions – Uneven surfaces, potholes, and slick roads due to weather can contribute to loss of vehicle control, especially for heavy trucks.
  • Speeding and Sudden Maneuvers – Large trucks require more distance to stop, and sudden turns or lane changes at high speeds can lead to rollovers or collisions.
