Beaumont, TX (January 28, 2025) – A motor vehicle accident unfolded along eastbound U.S. Highway 90, approximately one and a half miles west of the Beaumont Municipal Airport, leaving one person dead and two others injured.
Around noon on Tuesday, January 28, a rollback tow truck carrying a minivan and towing a Chevrolet passenger car behind it collided with a Piney Woods Sanitation garbage truck. According to a preliminary investigation conducted by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), the garbage truck was traveling eastbound, followed closely by the tow truck. Authorities reported that the tow truck driver failed to control their speed and rear-ended the garbage truck.
The driver of the tow truck was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Chesson. Officials have withheld the victim’s identity pending notification of their family. Meanwhile, the tow truck’s passenger and driver were transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital for treatment of injuries that were not considered life-threatening. The crash site, located near Courville’s, caused delays in the area as authorities worked to manage the scene. Troopers with DPS are continuing to investigate the events that led to this fatal crash.
We extend our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim and hope those injured recover quickly.
